The Camping Association of the Presbyteries of Northwestern Pennsylvania is pleased to announce that the organization has hired a new Director of Outdoor Ministries! On 5 May 2012, the Board of Directors voted unanimously to hire Scott Henderson to fill the position. Scott will be relocating all the way from San Jose, California and plans to be here in Pennsylvania by mid-May. The Board is excited about the talent and expertise he brings to the organization and is looking forward to working with him.

Meet Scott:

Scott HendersonScott is the son, grandson and great-grandson of Presbyterian ministers. He grew up in the Midwest and St. Andrews, Scotland. Scott attended Trinity University in San Antonio. He was ordained as a Presbyterian Elder in 1983. After college, he entered the business world and owned his own company for many years. Throughout his career, Scott stayed active in the mission field and served on two nonprofit Boards. In 2000, he made a conscious decision to merge vocation and avocation and make mission/ministry his full time career. He has been an outdoor ministry executive director for over ten years and served on the Presbyterian Church Camp and Conference Association Board. Scott is marrying his fiancée, Norma, this summer. He looks forward to the future of outdoor ministry at Camp Lambec and Westminster Highlands.

Construction is well underway on the new Rec Hall at Camp Lambec to replace the old one which was closed in 2010 and demolished in 2011.  The new Rec Hall is located in lower camp on the main road just east of Cabin 12, opposite Cabins 5 and 6, resting on the southern hillside of the vale.

Check back here for more photos and updates on the construction progress!  (Special thanks to Gary Weeks for all of these photos.)
